J.D. Davis joining Mets' bench for Wednesday matinee
New York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Jeff Hoffman and the Cincinnati Reds.
Davis is taking a seat for the day game after starting the last four contests. Jonathan Villar is covering third base for Davis and hitting sixth. Luis Guillorme is entering the lineup to bat eighth and play shortstop.
numberFire’s models project Villar for 11.8 FanDuel points and he has a $2,500 salary on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Mets have the second-highest implied total in the majors on Wednesday (5.5 runs) and Hoffman has the worst walk rate this season among the slate's listed starters (14.4 percent).
