Jordan Walden (shoulder) has already thrown off a mound for Cardinals

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Jordan Walden (shoulder) said Thursday he has already thrown off a mound six times.

What It Means:

His first official bullpen session of the spring will be Friday in Cardinals' camp, but it sounds like Walden is already well on his way. The hard-throwing right-hander was limited to 12 appearances in 2015 due to shoulder and biceps injuries. If he can stay healthy in 2016, it'll be a huge boost for St. Louis' already talented setup corps. Walden, 28, owns a 3.00 ERA and 266 strikeouts in 222 career major league frames. He was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in last year's Jason Heyward trade.

In 10 1/3 innings, he compiled a 0.87 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 10.45 strikeouts-per-nine and 3.48 walks-per-nine.
