David Freese (hamstring) placed on Dodgers' injured list

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder David Freese has been placed on the injured list due to a strained left hamstring.

What It Means:

It's an unfortunate injury for Freese, who was in the midst of a solid season as part of a platoon against lefties. It's unclear how long he'll be out, but it'll be at least the 10-day minimum. In the meantime, catcher Will Smith has been recalled from Oklahoma City.

In 140 plate appearances this season, Freese has eight home runs, 23 RBI, a .308 batting average and a .999 OPS.
