Mitch Moreland (hamstring) starting as Red Sox look to eliminate Astros in Game 5
Boston Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland (hamstring) is starting against the Houston Astros in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Thursday.
Moreland will replace Steve Pearce at first base and bat fifth versus Astros right-hander Justin Verlander in his first start of the ALCS due to a right hamstring issue. He has made multiple appearances as a pinch-hitter while helping the Red Sox build a 3-1 series lead.
Moreland is 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and a walk drawn as a pinch-hitter this series.
