MLB Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 9/22/22

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Rowdy Tellez To Record an RBI (+130)

The Milwaukee Brewers are in a spot to flex some offense tonight against the Cincinnati Reds.

With a 4.02 implied run total, the Brewers are the fourth-highest team on the slate and have a strong matchup. They are on the road in Cincinnati -- which is one of the best hitter's parks in the league -- to take on Hunter Greene.

This season, Greene has shown some serious upside with a 32.8% strikeout rate versus left-handed hitters, but there's also some significant downside. He is allowing a .414 SLG, 1.66 HR/9, 51.2% fly-ball rate, and 34.9% hard-contact rate in this split. Those are some dangerous numbers to have -- especially when there is wind blowing out tonight.

That leads us to Rowdy Tellez, who is carrying a 119 wRC+, .340 wOBA, .273 ISO, 44.2% fly-ball rate, and 41.3% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. The fly-ball rate, plus the park factor and wind, really puts Tellez in a strong spot. I'm also adding Tellez 2+ RBI (+430).

Justin Verlander Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+116)

For a strikeout prop, we can turn to the great Justin Verlander.

Verlander returned last week from his calf injury and looked dominant. What's most notable is that Verlander threw 79 pitches in that outing last week, showing he shouldn't be facing any type of restrictions tonight.

He's been amazing all season and comes in with a 27.2% strikeout rate, 4.5% walk rate, and 11.7% swinging-strike rate. We've seen Verlander push that strikeout rate over 50% in each of his last three starts, including the one last week. He's also racked up seven-plus strikeouts in three of his last five outings.

Verlander will be on the bump against the Baltimore Orioles, who come in with a 22.1% strikeout rate versus right-handed pitchers (17th in the league).
