MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Sunday 8/20/17

The Kansas City Royals don't like striking out very much, but Danny Salazar is so hot right now that it may not matter much. Who else should be on your radar for Sunday's MLB DFS main slate?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Danny Salazar ($9,800 on FanDuel): Danny Salazar's 3.38 SIERA, 33.2% strikeout rate, and 16.2% swinging-strike rate are all the best on today's slate, and the dude has been straight-up filthy since coming off the disabled list July 22nd. Over his most recent 32.1 innings of work, the right-hander has posted a 2.65 SIERA, 38.0% strikeout rate and 7.4% walk rate. Looks like he's drinking whatever Corey Kluber is drinking. The Kansas City Royals don't strikeout much in this situation (20.2% strikeout rate against righties), but they've produced just a 91 wRC+ for the year and have just a 4.17 implied team total for this particular matchup.
