MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Sunday 7/23/17

Whit Merrifield is priced at $3,200, and he should be atop the order for a Kansas City offense that boasts a mouth-watering 5.81 implied total. Which other players should we check out for today's main slate?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today. We'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate, which begins at 1:10 p.m. EST and features the day's first nine games.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Corey Kluber ($11,300 on FanDuel): Kluber was pushed back from his start Friday because of a neck issue, but he's expected to toe the rubber today. As long as that holds true, he'll be the slate's premier arm by a large margin. Per our projections, Kluber is the top-ranked pitcher with a projected FanDuel point total of 41.6 points, 8.6 more than any other hurler. Kluber has been an animal lately, fanning 94 hitters over his last 61 1/3 frames, and he owns a 34.5% strikeout rate and 15.5% swinging-strike rate for the year. The Toronto Blue Jays' 3.34 implied total is the slate's lowest mark by nearly a full run. Roster Kluber and build from there. On a slate with 10 offenses featuring an implied total of at least 5.0 runs, there should be more than enough value sticks available to make it work.
