Ian Desmond, OF, Texas Rangers

FanDuel Price: $4,200

As a recommended play Wednesday, Ian Desmond blew up for 31.4 FanDuel points thanks to a homer and double. While he’s not facing a lefty again today, which has dropped his price by nearly $1,000, he’s still a really good play.

Desmond gets a home matchup against Kansas City Royals right-hander Yordano Ventura, and Vegas gives Texas an implied total of 4.99 runs, the highest of the slate. The Rangers outfielder owns a .353 wOBA against righties, and he’s put up a .389 wOBA when he’s at home against same-sided pitchers.

Overall, Desmond has been a monster in his home stadium, raking to the tune of a .426 wOBA in his plate appearances at Globe Life Park, which ranks sixth in park factor.

Although he’s been better of late, Ventura is having the worst season of his career, struggling to a 4.81 SIERA with a 17.2% strikeout rate and 9.7% walk rate. He’s been particularly bad away from home, allowing a .348 wOBA with a 10.6% walk rate outside of Kauffman Stadium.

Desmond isn’t a slam dunk like he was last night. But the price drop makes him a much more affordable option, and he still possesses huge upside.
