David Price, P, Boston Red Sox

FanDuel Price: $10,100

Fernandez is always a threat to dominate ownership, which makes David Price really attractive as a solid play who may not have high ownership.

Price, our fourth-ranked hurler, is having a really weird year. His 4.51 ERA is a career-worst mark, but his advanced stats -- 3.39 SIERA, 25.3% strikeout rate, and 5.2% walk rate -- say he’s still a very good pitcher. His sparkling 12.3% swinging-strike rate, a career-best, hints that his strikeout rate could be even higher.

On the negative, he’s giving up a 35.8% hard-hit rate, which is the worst clip of his career by a wide margin.

Price’s poor results are a mix of bad luck -- his BABIP (.339) and strand rate (70.4%) are both worse than his career averages -- and that hard-hit rate. Those things have kept his price -- and will likely keep his ownership -- down despite the fact his peripherals say he’s an ace.

He’s in a good spot tonight as he takes on the Los Angeles Angels. The Halos have been a league-average offense, ranking 14th in wOBA (.321), but that number has been boosted by their recent run of dominance.

Over the last 30 days, the Angels have developed a serious power stroke, producing a .351 wOBA. For reference, they owned a measly .288 wOBA through April. They’ve definitely made better contact over the last 30 days, posting the 11th-best hard-hit rate (51.4%), but Los Angeles has also benefitted from some batted-ball luck in this hot stretch as their .322 BABIP ranks 3rd.

The Angels’ 3.7 implied total is worth targeting, and Price is due for some good fortune.
