Why He Will Go Overlooked:

There are lots of interesting pitching options tonight, with Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Sanchez likely leading the pack in terms of ownership. Carlos Martinez isn't even projected to win his game against Syndergaard, so it's doubtful that he's a highly sought after player, even with a solid matchup and great Vegas opponent team total.

Why You Should Use Him:

Martinez has a stellar 2.83 ERA on the year and has been even better recently. Over his past nine starts, Martinez has a 1.61 ERA and has posted at least 7 strikeouts four times.

He's in a good spot to continue his recent hot streak against the Mets tonight. New York ranks 20th in the league in wOBA against right-handed pitching, while posting the 7th-highest strikeout rate against them (22.6 percent). In starts against other teams in the top-10 in strikeout rate against righties this year, Martinez has posted an 8.48 strikeouts per nine innings rate, up from his season mark of 7.56.

With a low chance of acquiring an additional 12 FanDuel points for a win in tonight's matchup with Syndergaard, Martinez is hard to justify in cash games. In tournaments, however, his upside is undeniable in this matchup.
