Jon Gray, SP, Colorado Rockies

FanDuel Price: $7,700

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Jon Gray is pitching at Coors and has the fourth-highest implied opponent run total, with Atlanta projected for five runs. With a loaded pitcher player pool, it seems unlikely that he is highly owned.

Why You Should Use Him:

Coors Field is not a place we tend to target pitchers at. I understand the concern. Given what Gray has done at home this year, along with Atlanta's struggles at the plate this season, I am willing to take a chance on Gray in tournaments tonight.

Check out Gray's home/away splits this season in the table below.

Jon GrayxFIPWHIPK%BB%Hard%
Home3.041.1026.95.127.8
Away3.911.2325.310.434.1

Gray has been even better in his last five home starts, posting a 2.97 ERA and a 9.45 K/9.

Oh yeah, and his opponent, the Braves, rank dead last in wOBA and wRC+ against right-handed pitching. The concerns with playing at Coors are also alleviated by the fact that they have the fewest homers against righties by a wide margin, which is backed up by their last-place hard-hit rate against righties.

I will never recommend that you start a pitcher at Coors in your cash game lineups, but Gray is certainly worth a look in tournaments given his price, upside, and low ownership.
