John Jaso is putting together a solid year from the plate, hitting .296/.362/.425 with a .344 wOBA. He has been especially good against right-handed pitchers, recording a 9.3% walk rate, 12.9% strikeout rate and .358 wOBA.

He's up against a struggling righty tonight in St. Louis Cardinals' starter Carlos Martinez, who is sporting a career-worst 4.00 SIERA on the season. Martinez has trouble against left-handed hitters, allowing a career .335 wOBA to southpaws while posting a 4.17 xFIP on the year. Likely hitting leadoff for the Pirates tonight, Jaso is in a great spot.
