While he's not a paragon of consistency and he doesn't have the highest floor, Pedro Alvarez offers huge upside when he draws a good matchup at home.

His career wOBA sits at .323, and he has a 28.8 percent strikeout rate, but he also owns a very solid .226 ISO, 34.5 percent fly ball rate, and 37.7 percent hard-hit rate against right-handed pitchers. This season, as an Oriole, he has the added benefit of getting to hit at Camden Yards, one of the best parks in the Majors for left-handed hitters,

He's up against Ivan Nova today, a righty who gave up 1.24 home runs per nine innings in 2015 and is giving up 1.26 this season. Nova fares slightly worse against left-handed hitters, allowing a .333 wOBA and 4.17 xFIP, and Alvarez's power gives him big upside in this matchup.
