Jose Ramirez, 3B, Cleveland Indians

Price: $4,100

Assuming he's back in the lineup after fouling a ball off his foot yesterday, Jose Ramirez is nice and cheap thanks to a slow start to 2019. A six-game, 24-plate appearance sample is not something you should read much into, so the struggles are really just creating a great opportunity in fantasy.

In a much more robust 698 plate appearance sample last year, Ramirez turned in a .391 wOBA and .282 ISO -- right in line with his .396 wOBA and .265 ISO from 2017. He topped both 100 RBI and runs, while adding 39 home runs and 34 stolen bases.

The runs and RBI opportunities may not be great today (Cleveland has a middling 4.06 implied total), but that rare combination of home run and stolen base upside gives him a massive fantasy ceiling on a nightly basis.

The Toronto Blue Jays will start Trent Thornton tonight, in what will be his second major league start. He looked great in his first outing this year, but he's coming off a pair of 20-start Triple-A seasons in which he didn't look overly scary. 2017 saw him post a 5.09 ERA and 4.24 xFIP, and that improved to a 4.42 ERA and 3.98 xFIP in 2018.

Even if Thornton continues to show some improvement this year, he's not nearly threatening enough to take Ramirez out of play with a salary this low.
