Brandon Drury, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays

Price: $2,100

A lot of the top value on Opening Day comes in the outfield. But outfielders also make up some of the best high-priced plays, so you're probably looking for same value options at other positions, too.

Brandon Drury is a real punt play, priced only $100 above minimum-salary, but he's also likely hitting leadoff. There aren't a ton of spots where you're not going to want to at least consider a leadoff hitter priced this low.

Drury won't have the platoon advantage to open this one, with the Toronto Blue Jays taking on a righty in the Detroit Tigers' Jordan Zimmermann, but that doesn't typically matter much for Drury. He has the same wOBA (.320) against righties and lefties over his four seasons in the Majors. That's not a great mark, but it's also not egregious, especially when you factor in his price and his spot in the lineup.

His weak 2018 numbers shouldn't have you too concerned, either. They come on only an 86-plate-appearance sample, and he posted an ugly .214 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), compared to his career-average of .299. Variance drove his production way down, and we can expect his wOBA to come back up around that .320 average.

It also helps his case that Zimmermann isn't exactly a killer on the mound, either. His numbers improved in 2018, but he still posted a pretty middling 4.20 SIERA, after putting up marks of 4.81 and 5.22 in the previous two seasons.
