No, a matchup against Aaron Nola isn't ideal, and it's no secret Bryce Harper is having a tough month at the plate, but he's one of the cheaper superstars on tonight's slate. Not only that, but with Nola likely to be one of tonight's most popular pitchers, that should further dissuade people from using Harper.
Nola is in the midst of a strong season, but he's not nearly as dominant against lefty bats, posting just a 20.9% strikeout rate and 9.2% walk rate. And while the Washington Nationals have a mere 3.81 implied team total, there are plenty of capable bats in this lineup, and Citizens Bank Park gives a nice boost to home runs, even for lefties.
Meanwhile, Harper might be starting to turn things around, putting up a 58.3% hard-hit rate and .448 xwOBA over the last seven days. Oh, and let's not forget that this guy has a career 151 wRC+ versus right-handed pitching.
