J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox

Price: $5,100

J.D. Martinez may be the player that has appeared in the article the most to start the season, and for good reason. He ranks second in the Majors (min. 50 batted balls) in average exit velocity, and he's deadly against both left- and right-handed pitching, with hard-hit rates north of 50% and soft-hit rates below 5% against both.

The fact that taking on a right-handed pitcher doesn't slow him down isn't anything new, and he has cracked righties for a .413 wOBA and .347 isolated slugging (ISO) on a 48.8% hard-hit rate since the start of the 2017 season.

Martinez brings those impressive numbers into a great matchup tonight against Oakland's Trevor Cahill. Cahill has limited opponents' production well through four starts in 2018, but he is also giving up a massive 46.3% hard-hit rate while only forcing a 7.4% soft-hit rate. That's trouble against a guy like Martinez.
