FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 5/16/18

Freddie Freeman mashes righties with the best of them and stands out as a top option against Tyler Chatwood. Who else should you target on tonight's tidy five-game slate?

Most of Wednesday's games are scheduled during the day, leaving us with a compact five-game main slate for the evening. But for such a small slate, we have quite the cast of high-upside pitchers, with seven of the ten starters owning a strikeout rate over 28% in 2018. A few stand out from the pack, but there will be plenty to choose from in tournaments.

The Boston Red Sox haven't really come through this week, but they're once again one of tonight's top offenses, along with the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. We once again have rain threatening the East Coast, so keep an eye on the chatter this afternoon.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Chris Sale ($11,400 on FanDuel): Pitching is stacked tonight, but Chris Sale sticks out as one of the safer options against the Oakland A's. Sale has been really racking up the punchouts lately, and his season numbers are beginning to mirror last year's marks, as he's compiled a stellar 2.54 SIERA, 34.2% strikeout rate, and 4.8% walk rate. His 16.7% swinging-strike rate trails only Max Scherzer among qualified starters, and he's only allowed a 26.9% hard-hit rate. Although the Athletics have been a thorn in the side of the Red Sox this season, they only have a 3.12 implied team total, and own a 23.0% strikeout rate versus lefties. The matchup arguably slots Sale as tonight's top cash game play, but you can hardly be faulted if you opt for Scherzer instead.
