Andrelton Simmons, SS, Los Angeles Angels

Hide yo right-handed batters -- it's Gerrit Cole day and he is going to make things miserable tonight.

For Cole's career, he has wiped righties out. Spanning 447 2/3 innings, righties have mustered only a .286 wOBA, 23.2% strikeout rate, and a paltry 26.1% hard-hit rate. This season, he's been especially difficult on same-sided bats. It's in a much smaller sample size, but righties have only hit him for a .207 wOBA with a 34.6% strikeout rate against this new-and-improved Cole.

Enter Andrelton Simmons, fresh off a fantastic 2017 campaign where he showcased a deadly power-speed combo with 14 homers and 19 steals. He's kept that momentum going with an impressive .389 wOBA to start this season. The downside is that Simmons has historically fared worse in a righty-righty split. For his career, the shortstop has posted a .303 wOBA, .110 ISO, 26.9% hard-hit rate, and 29.9% fly-ball rate, which isn't ideal in tonight's matchup.

Simmons has started off 2018 strong, but it may be a good night to look elsewhere up the middle.
