3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 5/2/18

Of the top hurlers on the slate, Dylan Bundy has one of the tougher matchups against the Los Angeles Angels, who have one of the lowest team strikeout rates on the season (19.6%) and are displaying a 4.05 implied team total. Bundy is also coming off a crushing performance against the Tampa Bay Rays, where he was shelled for 7 earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings.

But there's no denying Bundy has been fantastic this year, producing a 3.27 SIERA, 28.4% strikeout rate, and 6.5% walk rate. Those marks can hang with the best pitchers on the board, and even in a tough spot, his ceiling is as high as anyone's tonight.

Including this season, most of Bundy's struggles come from left-handers, but the Angels have a predominantly right-handed lineup, so this shouldn't be as much of an issue. Against righties, Bundy has a robust career 27.1% strikeout rate, which has jumped to a crazy 38.9% rate in 2018. It may be early, but it can only give us confidence that Bundy can put in a strong performance.

Bundy shouldn't see much ownership on a pitching-packed slate, so he makes for an excellent contrarian play with sneaky upside.
