Robbie Ray has given up a bunch of runs in his three starts this season, but with a 3.80 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), his 5.74 ERA through three starts isn't especially concerning. Oddsmakers seem to be on board with that idea as well, as the Arizona Diamondbacks (-154 moneyline) are the second-biggest favorites on the main slate.

The San Francisco Giants represent a great matchup for Ray to get things together tonight. They have opened the 2018 season striking out at a top-12 rate (24.9%) against southpaws, while their egregious 69 wRC+ ranks only 28th.

Despite the early-season struggles, Ray has had no trouble keeping up his high strikeout numbers either. Through three games, his 32.4% strikeout rate is right in line with the career-best 32.8% he managed in 2017.

With a great matchup and big strikeout potential, numberFire's models have Ray as Wednesday's top-projected fantasy pitcher.
