Going back to the A's and their plus matchup against Fister, it's worth noting that the veteran tends to have an especially hard time with left-handed hitters. In 2017 he got crushed for a 39.6% hard-hit rate by left-handers, which translated to a 4.82 xFIP and .365 wOBA.

Matt Joyce is coming off a down year in 2017, but his .343 wOBA and .230 ISO in those 141 games were still solid marks, particularly for a guy in this price-range. He also did especially strong work against right-handed hurlers, notching a .360 wOBA and .256 ISO on a 31.3% hard-hit and 45.5% fly-ball rate, positioning him well to take advantage tongiht.
