Yonder Alonso, 1B, Cleveland Indians

FanDuel Price: $2,700

With the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox all in enticing matchups, there are only so many roster spots to go around, so some other teams may get overlooked.

One such team is the Cleveland Indians, who have a 4.36 implied team total against right-hander J.C. Ramirez. A converted relief pitcher, Ramirez did a reasonable job against righty bats in 2017, but with lefties, he allowed a whopping 44.8% hard-hit rate. Even if there's some small-sample noise going on here, his career strikeout rate (15.3%) and walk rate (9.0%) against them is also nothing special.

Yonder Alonso was one of the big "fly-ball revolution" stories of 2017, slugging a career-high 28 dingers, but the power dwindled in the second half, leaving most to write him off entering 2018. While it's easy to be skeptical of a full repeat, as a whole, he posted a .380 wOBA and .235 isolated power (ISO) against right-handed pitching last year. Also, with the Angels lowering the right field wall, left-handed hitters are expected to see a boost in home runs compared to years past.

At a low price point, this looks like a good night to give Alonso a whirl in an underrated spot.
