Chris Taylor has been putting on a show lately, hitting one out of the park three games in a row before finally going homerless on Sunday. Since the beginning of July he's putting the ball in the air with regularity, posting a 28.4% ground-ball rate and 36.4% hard-hit rate, helping lead to a stellar .453 wOBA over that span.

But as impressive as that is, he's now priced as an elite bat, and we can't really call him that just yet. Much of his success has been fueled by a fortuitous .408 BABIP this year, which explains why he has just a .339 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). He may be swinging a hot bat, but we can't simply ignore his season as a whole when he's this expensive.

Furthermore, despite a 4.70 implied team total for the Los Angeles Dodgers, he's up against a tough customer in Zack Godley tonight. Over his last eight starts, Godley has a 30.1% strikeout rate and 3.09 xFIP.
