Martin Maldonado, C, Los Angeles Angels

FanDuel Price: $2,300

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants is on track to post arguably the finest offensive season of his career. In 2017, he's posted a .403 wOBA, and in June, he's produced a very strong .200 ISO. At a pretty affordable $3,400 price point, he's likely to be a chalky option at catcher.

With a relatively pedestrian .325 wOBA this season, Martin Maldonado is not likely to be as popular.

Why You Should Use Him:

While Maldonado may not be as attractive of a play as Posey, he could be in line for a monster night. Maldonado is destroying left-handed pitching in 2017, and he faces another southpaw tonight in Rich Hill. Maldonado has posted a 176 wRC+ this year, including a 40.0% hard-hit rate and a 33.3% fly-ball rate.

Hill was better in his last start, allowing only one run over five innings and striking out eight, but he was flirting with danger. He recorded a swinging-strike rate of only 9.3% in that start, and he was incredibly wild, recording first-pitch strikes only 34.8% of the time. That's a a season-low mark and gives major cause for concern.

In 2017, Hill has done a nice job of limiting hard-contact to righties only 25.3% of the time, but he is allowing fly-balls on 45.7% of batted balls.

At such a low price point, and some concerning peripherals on Hill, Maldonado makes for a juicy play at the catcher spot.
