Kyle Freeland, Colorado Rockies

Starts: June 12th at Pittsburgh Pirates, June 17th vs. San Francisco Giants
ESPN ownership: 30 percent

Scrolling passed mid-tier Colorado Rockies starters scheduled to pitch in the unfriendly confines of Coors Field is usually one of the easiest calls of your waiver cycle, but this week it might be wise to give Kyle Freeland a second look.

After all, the young lefty has been surprisingly effective at home this year, tallying a 3.50 ERA across 36 innings at Coors, with a not-at-all-shabby 3.84 expected fielding independent pitching (xFIP) to boot. The 6.8 percent strikeout rate is nothing to write home about, but Freeland's managed to keep his head above water thanks to an elite 57.5-percent ground-ball percentage, a top-eight mark across the majors.

Another reason think twice about shying away from Freeland's home start here is his opponent, a barely-there Giants offense that hasn't hit a lick against lefties all season. In fact, both the Giants and the Pirates boast well-above-average grounder rates on the season, playing right into Freeland's hand.
