Ervin Santana, SP, Minnesota Twins

Perhaps Ervin Santana is looking to the sky because divine intervention might be the only way to explain his 2.44 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.

More than any other qualified pitcher this season, Santana has benefited from a low BABIP. His .153 mark is the only one below .200 in the entire league. Between that and an unsustainable 87.7% strand rate, and you get a guy coming off as elite by standard measures, despite a humbling 4.94 SIERA below the surface.

He also has uninspiring marks in strikeouts and walks (18.6% and 10.3% rates, respectively).

The regression gods will not stand for this all season. Even in a spot against the light-hitting San Francisco Giants, Santana isn't worth a look.
