4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/5/17

Dallas Keuchel is off to a great start, and he's the most expensive arm on a pretty loaded pitching slate. But a matchup with the tough-to-strikeout Angels doesn't give him enough upside to justify his salary.

Tonight's FanDuel main slate provides some tough challenges with Coors Field back in play and pitchers galore to choose from in both cash and tournament flavors.

On the high-end, we have Stephen Strasburg ($10,400), Yu Darvish ($10,600), Danny Salazar ($10,200), and Chris Archer ($9,600). Strasburg is probably the "safest" choice (even though it never really feels that way) because he doesn't walk guys and is taking on the Philadelphia Phillies, who have a 24% strikeout rate against righties.

But his strikeout rate is down a bit (22.6%), so an argument can be made for the other three. Salazar in particular looks like a fantastic tournament play with his 33.3% strikeout rate and 15.9% swinging-strike rate against the Kansas City Royals.

If you want to stock up on bats, though, there are plenty of cheaper choices available. Kenta Maeda ($8,400), Francisco Liriano ($8,400), Wade Miley ($8,200), Eduardo Rodriguez ($7,900), and Mike Foltynewicz ($7,400) have all shown some big-time upside this year.

And speaking of bats, it's not like we just have Coors to look at. There are plenty of other juicy hitting matchups on the board, like the Boston Red Sox against Phil Hughes (4.79 SIERA), and the Baltimore Orioles against Miguel Gonzalez (4.87 SIERA) in a potentially windy game.

Yikes, it looks like we have our work cut out for us! Let's help ourselves out by cutting out some of the fat and avoiding the following players.
