After showing some promise from the dish with a .324 wOBA and .245 ISO as a rookie last season, Jeremy Hazelbaker has opened 2017 with a strong .377 wOBA and a .150 ISO. He's not crushing the ball by any stretch, but he has limited his soft-hit rate to only 7.1% while tagging right-handed pitchers for a .392 wOBA.

San Diego Padres starter Jhoulys Chacin hasn't posted a SIERA below 4.00 since his sophomore season in 2010 and has opened this year with a 4.49 mark, to go along with a 15.5% strikeout rate. He has a career 4.56 xFIP against left-handed hitters and has allowed a 35.0% hard-hit rate against them. All of this points to a great matchup for Hazelbaker tonight.
