Jose Bautista, OF, Toronto Blue Jays

FanDuel Price: $3,300

The 2-11 Toronto Blue Jays have had a rough go it this season, with quite a few players going through early slumps. But while other Blue Jays show signs of breaking through, Jose Bautista has had miserable numbers across the board.

Bautista is slashing a paltry .128/.276/.170 with zero home runs. The average can in part be explained by an abysmal .188 BABIP, but an uncharacteristic 27.6% strikeout rate, 69.8% contact rate and 21.9% hard-hit rate don't exactly inspire much confidence.

How to handle hot and cold streaks is often a subject of debate in the DFS community due to small sample sizes. Oftentimes you can argue that slumps are good buy-low opportunities when salaries decrease.

But in Bautista's case, outside of a still-strong 15.5% walk rate, his peripherals don't give us much to hang our hopes on. It's too early to completely write him off, but at 36 years old, it's possible age is starting to catch up to him.

Today's mediocre matchup against Rick Porcello is unlikely to bust him out of his slump, and really, you might be better off ignoring Bautista in DFS regardless of matchup until he shows some life.
