Cole Hamels, SP, Texas Rangers

FanDuel Price: $9,300

Unlike yesterday, where we had a sparse group of viable starters, there are plenty of options to choose from today. Rich Hill, Jacob deGrom and Chris Sale are all elite hurlers worthy of consideration.

But where does that leave Cole Hamels? Now 33 years old, Hamels has been one of the most consistent starters year-in and year-out for seemingly forever. Last year's 23.6% strikeout rate was solid enough, but pales in comparison to the upside of the aforementioned trio. Furthermore, it's possible his strikeout upside decreases this season at his age. Also, his walk rate creeped up to 9.1% after two straight seasons at 7.1%. It's possible, maybe even likely, he can lower that number, but it remains a concern until he proves otherwise.

Worse yet, he's facing off against a formidable Cleveland Indians lineup that now has Edwin Encarnacion and a healthy Michael Brantley.

Hamels is still a very solid pitcher, but as the fourth-most expensive pitcher on a full slate, he deserves a hard pass today.
