HORSE RACING

Santa Anita Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 5/28/21

There are eight races on Friday at Santa Anita. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have eight races at Santa Anita Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Trouville and Lalic, Race 3

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1 and 8/5

Race 3 is an Allowance race for fillies and mares sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire data projects a tight race and for Trouville (4/1) to edge the favorite and consistent closer Lalic (8/5). Lalic won her last appearance in a similar conditioned race.

Trouville has leading turf jockey Umberto Rispoli aboard and can pick them up late. She’s finished in the money in her last five starts, according to Horse Racing Radar, and will benefit by more pace this race from I’m the Hero (8/1), Capital Heat (5/1), and Majestic Gigi (12/1).

Circle of Honor, Race 4

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/5

This maiden claiming route is a split of race 6. This race has six fillies and mares going 1 mile. The heavy favorite is Circle of Honor (6/5), who is projected by numberFire to just miss and finish second behind Dynamite Queen (6/1), who has apprentice jockey Jessica Pyfer riding. Both jockeys get a weight break to 113 pounds.

Circle of Honor has improved since stretching out to two turns and has finished runner-up twice.

Dynamite Queen makes her second start after pulling up and failing to finish the race in her debut a month ago.

Summer Rose (4/1) is a 5-year-old maiden who is quick enough to make the lead and gets a boost at the preferred 1-mile distance from EPO trainer Phil D’Amato.

Hammering Lemon and Onenightstandards, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2 and 3/1

Race 7 is an Optional Claimer with eight runners racing 1 mile on the turf. The numberFire algorithm projects Railsplitter (4/1) to win, and Onenightstandards (3/1) and Hammering Lemon (5/2) finish in-the-money.

Railsplitter finished second last race under similar conditions, and the cut back in distance should help. He’ll influence the pace scenario.

Onenightstandards won a maiden race last summer on turf and has hit the board in 4-of-5 starts. Horse Racing Radar notes he enters with the highest last race speed figure (92) when finishing a close third three weeks ago in his Santa Anita debut.

Hammering Lemon is a best bet of Guaranteed Tip Sheet. He stretches out for the first time and figures to be running near the lead and pressing the pace with 18% turf winning-jockey Mario Gutierrez riding.
