Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 1/20/21

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:35 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Gulfstream Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Miss Wrote, Race 5

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/1

Race 7 is a Claiming race for older fillies and mares going 1-mile on the Turf. The top choice of Daily Horse Picks (DHP) is the favorite, She Fled the Scene (5/2). numberFire’s algorithm has the same projection on top unless the race is moved off the turf.

Miss Wrote (6/1) is dropping to the $20,000 level -- the same level as her speedy $20,000 maiden win two races ago. In her last time out on New Year’s Eve, she finished third here going a mile versus better while posting her best speed figure of 80.

She fled the scene is the best closer in the field but came up short in her last two starts, finishing second in both. A good set up and pace by Miss Wrote and She Fled the Scene may take it to the wire this time as projected in the pace setup by DHP.

Sunny Isle Beach, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2

Race 6 is a Starter Optional Claiming race for three-year-old fillies going 1-mile. Guaranteed Tip Sheet has a best bet on Sunny Isle Beach (5/2) to win, followed by Shiny Empire (3/1). numberFire also has those two on top in reverse order.

Sunny Isle Beach goes for back-to-back wins at this level following a perfectly timed ride by jockey Luis Saez a month ago. Horse Racing Radar notes she’s won three of four starts and is sired by a favorite, Jimmy Creed.

Shiny Empire ran on the lead nearly the entire way last race before getting caught at the wire by favorite Sunny Isle Beach. Speedy Happy Constitution (3/1) has leading jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding and drops to this $50K level with a tag attached.

Rhythmia and Dominate Themoment, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2 and 10/1

Race 7 is an Allowance race for older state-breds going 1 1/16 miles on the Turf. The top pick of numberFire is Sir Seamus (7/2). Daily Horse Picks also projects Sir Seamus (7/2) to win with Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding, followed by the favorite, Rhythmia (5/2), for EPO trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr.

Daily Horse Picks rates the pace best for Sir Seamus with top speed belonging to Rhythmia. DHP has those two as the top-class horses in the field.

Rhythmia has won six and placed in six races and had a best 101 speed figure when winning last in September. He won as the favorite and was three lengths clear of fifth-place off the pace-runner Dominate Themoment (10/1), who was bumped at the start and gets a new rider in John Velazquez. numberFire has Dominate Themoment finishing second.

Sir Seamus has won four similar races during his productive spring and summer seasons. He drops back down after no success against stronger horses in his last two races.
