Lone Star Park Horse Racing Picks for Monday 7/27/20

Lone Star Park has nine races slated for today. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 2:35 p.m. EST today, we have nine races at Lone Star Park. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Jewel Street, Race 1 (2:35 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 5/1

This Maiden Special Weight has a $40K purse up for grabs. Our models project Jewel Street to place second, but I like the filly's chances. In three outings, Jewel Street has posted figures of 67, 59, and 57. The horse's rider has been more successful of late.

Were I not searching for value, I'd probably bet on Airline Drive (6/5) to win and leave it at that. Trained by Steven Asmussen, the three-year-old has figures of 72 and 60 in her last two, resulting in a second- and third-place finish, respectively. Airline Drive will have top jockey Stewart Elliott in the saddle. Fancy All the Time (20/1) had a disappointing showing in her debut six weeks ago, but the filly will be Ramon Vazquez, making her worthy of consideration. Vazquez has the highest winning percentage at Lone Star in 2020 and has won 30 of his last 100 races here. Night N Red Satin (5/2) has the figures to be in contention.

Blue Darter, Race 8 (6:15 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 7/2

numberFire projects Blue Darter to place third, though I can see the filly taking this one to the barn. In her two races since March, the four-year-old reached figures of 66 -- that made it six career races of 60 or better eight tries. The two-time winner will have the aforementioned Ramon Vazquez as her rider, which makes her an even more appealing pick.

Silver in the City (3/1) is fresh off a win five weeks ago, where she achieved a figure of 69. The mare has placed top-three in 6 of her 12 efforts at Lone Star. Texas Music Box (12/1) is a longer shot worth considering based on her figures. Current betting favorite Lady Ave (5/2) should be thereabouts.

Bottle Shock, Race 9 (6:45 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

In his two races of 2020, both in June, Bottle Shock has placed first with figures of 82 and 86. In both victories, the gelding had Roberto Morales on board at the very same distance as this Allowance event. Bottle Shock is numberFire's pick as well.

Ridden by Stewart Elliott, current betting favorite Mister Kelly (8/5) will be well in the mix. The colt has posted figures of 82, 85, and 89 in his last three, resulting in finishes of third, first, and third. Coupled horses Foxrun and Port of Storms (8/1) currently present great value. Both geldings have the figures to keep pace here. Jockeyed by Ramon Vazquez, Let's Go Alamo (15/1) has odds too steep to ignore, especially considering the solid form of late.
