Tampa Bay Downs Horse Racing Picks for Monday 6/22/20

Tampa Bay Downs has eight races on Monday. Which horses are you betting at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:29 p.m. EST, we have eight races at Tampa Bay Downs. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Nikki Bella, Race 3

FD Odds: Both 5/2

Race 6 is a smaller Claiming race for older fillies and mares going 6 furlongs. The meets leading trainer Gary Bennett has the two favorites running led by Rattlesnakerose (2/1), the top choice at Daily Horse Picks. She improved her speed figures in two May starts just missing by a nose in a shorter claimer and winning a month ago on the front end by a neck over her stablemate Nikki Bella (5/2), who is improving with good health and will be coming from off the pace again as a main challenger.

Cocktails or Candy (9/2) won a pair of sprints here in February and March and then finished third in early May less than a length behind runner-up Rattlesnakerose after pressing her into the stretch and making up a little ground.

Evidence, Race 5

FD Odds: 6/5

The favorite on the outside post No. 10 is Evidence (6/5), who has implied win odds of 45% at FanDuel Racing to capture this 6-furlong sprint for small claiming Maidens. He finished fifth against better in his 2020 debut six weeks ago. A Single in your Pick 3 and Pick 4 horizontal plays.

Tommy Tuesday (6/1) and Honor This (6/1), the second choice at numberFire, are both winless in 10 and 15 starts, respectively, and have shown little speed or ability at longer odds.

A poor group, with off the pace closer Starship Fonzy (30/1) trying to break through as his trainer runs him hard in his 10th race in 2020.

Positive Impact, Race 8

FD Odds: 4/1

Race 8 concludes the card with a better Claiming race going a route at 1 1/16 miles on the turf. If Hey Griff (10/1) draws in from the Also Eligible list, he’s worth a play at a price. The top choice at numberFire is In Honor of Artie (7/2). Making his sixth straight start since March, he just missed two races back, closing hard and taking the lead in the stretch before finishing second going longer in a 1 1/8 mile race. Cut back and a top contender in this group.

FanDuel Racing give Positive Impact (4/1) the next best implied odds to win at 20%. The son of Hard Spun makes his third career start and is working well in the mornings for trainer Harty, who has one of the top win percentages (23%) at the meet. Positive Impact stretches out and projected to move forward.

Puerto Veras (3/1) and Tithed (5/1) have both been scratched from the race.
