Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Friday 6/12/20

Charles Town has nine races slated for tonight. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST this evening, we have nine races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Aleph, Race 3 (8:02 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

Our model likes Aleph to win this maiden claiming event, and I wholeheartedly agree. The gelding is coming off a second place finish at this track three weeks ago where he posted a speed figure of 56. It was his second formidable showing in May. He'll be jockeyed by J.D. Acosta, who's third in purse at Charles Town this year.

Level Seventeen (8/1) is coming off an runner-up finish at Tampa Bay in February. The gelding achieved a figure of 73, higher than any horse in this race ever has. His workout here last month was so-so, though. Ragtime Cowboy Joe (5/2) is the current betting favorite, but his recent form has been nothing to write home about. The gelding will be ridden by Arnaldo Bocachica, who's far more successful at this track than any of his peers. Tivano (7/2) should be in the mix.

He's a Gold Digger, Race 4 (8:32 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 8/5

He's a Gold Digger is both our model's winning pick and the current betting favorite. The gelding has posted three consecutive figures of 77 or better, which is elite for this field. He'll be jockeyed by Gerald Almodovar, who's had considerable success at this track.

Black Steel (2/1) is just slightly behind He's a Gold Digger in odds and is our model's pick to place third. Black Steel posted a figure of 78 in a third-place finish here three weeks ago. Charitable Visit (9/2) has the ability and jockey in hand to win or place in Race 4. He'll be in the mix. Meldon (12/1) could very well surprise.

Earlscastle, Race 7 (10:02 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 9/5

Earlscastle hasn't won any of his last 10 races, yet odd-setters have him as the betting favorite. It's easy to see why, though, as the gelding has posted figures higher than 70 in four straight efforts -- finishing second in each of those outings.

Swing Batter (5/2) is one to watch out for. After seeing his form decline in February, the gelding has been better of late. Take Time (9/2) could perform well on these terms. Cubic Sound (5/1) should be thereabouts.

Morgan County, Race 8 (10:32 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Though Morgan County's last effort was not what we had hoped for, he could make up for it in this allowance event. The gelding had achieved figures of 70-plus in four straight efforts prior to his last time out and could perform well in this one.

It's tough to ignore Zep's (5/2) form coming into to this race. He'll also have Almodovar as jockey, who has the higher purse among the riders in this race. Silver Taurus (12/1) currently has long odds but has the form and ability to win this competition. Upperville (6/1) should garner consideration as well.
