Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Friday 5/29/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Thorn Of Rose Hill, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 8/5

numberFire's model, Timeform, and Daily Horse Picks are unanimous in their love for Race 1 favorite Thorn Of Rose Hill. All three see the gelding taking this one, with DHP putting his win probability at 46% and top-three chances at 99%.

Thorn Of Rose Hill didn't perform well his last time out (seventh), but he's otherwise been respectable in 2020, posting a runner-up and two fourth-place finishes.

He should also get a nice boost from jockey Arnaldo Bocachica, who's been cashing in with regularity at this track. Bocachica is the top earner so far in 2020, rocking an impressive 30% win rate and 58% top-three rate. It's worth noting that the gelding's disappointing seventh-place finish came with a different jockey -- Bocachica was his rider in all three other 2020 races.

Sheplaysthefield, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

DHP gives a Sheplaysthefield a fantastic 44% chance of winning and 97% chance of getting top three. numberFire's model and Timeform also like her to come away victorious.

Although the mare hasn't done much in two 2020 appearances (fifth place twice), the previously mentioned Bocachica will be on board tonight.

Furthermore, Sheplaysthefield was a winner in her final 2019 race (December), and produced throughout last year, finishing top three in 10 of 15 races with 3 wins and 9 runner-ups.

Blip Says Bye, Race 6

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Blip Says Bye is yet another favorite, but numberFire and Timeform both like her to take Race 6, and DHP is on board, too, at 47% win odds.

The filly's rider will be Christian Hiraldo, who's fifth in 2020 earnings at Charles Town with a 40% rate of finishing top three.

Blip Says Bye actually has a surprisingly mediocre track record (11-5-8-6-6), but she's now with trainer Timothy C. Grams, who's seventh in 2020 earnings here this year. Also, much of her opposition is inexperienced tonight, with five of her nine other competitors coming in with one or zero races under their belts.

Lady Storm, Race 7

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

Lady Storm is the top choice of Race 7 on all three sites. DHP likes her to win 45% of the time and place top three at a 98% clip.

Frankly, it's hard to argue against Lady Storm considering her impeccable track record. She hasn't raced in 2020 -- a slight concern -- but she's been pretty much unstoppable since her debut last March, rolling off four wins and third place in five tries.

Jockey Jose Montano was her rider in two of those wins, and he's finished top three just under half the time in Charles Town this year (48%).

Anna's Bandit and Parisian Diva, Race 8

FD Racing Odds: 7/5 and 3/1

Race 8 looks to be a, well, two-horse race between Anna's Bandit and Parisian Diva. numberFire, Timeform, and DHP all see these two finishing top two, with the latter giving each horse over a 30% chance of winning.

Both competitors have impressive resumes. Anna's Bandit was the winner in 9 of 11 races last year and has finished second and third in her pair of 2020 appearances. Meanwhile, Parisian Diva placed first or second in eight of nine 2019 races (six wins), and she won her lone 2020 appearance here just a couple weeks ago.

As one might expect from those results, the pair also boast strong jockeys in Gerald Almodovar (Anna's Bandit) and J. D. Acosta (Parisian Diva).

An exacta wager is certainly in play if you want to combine the two in a bet.
