Carolina Panthers vs. New York Jets

Over/Under: 39.5

Panthers Implied Team Total: 21.75

Jets Implied Team Total: 17.75

The Carolina Panthers (7-3) are all the way back from a disappointing 2016 campaign and looking to re-claim the top spot in a competitive NFC South. The New York Jets (4-6) have been much better than expected and have offered stiff competition to all opponents, losing only two contests by more than a touchdown.

With an over/under of 39.5 and the Panthers only favored by four points, this could be a much more competitive contest than expected. While it won't be a bonanza of fantasy points by any means, there are a couple of players who could return considerable profit when these teams face off this weekend.

Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers

FanDuel Price: $8,000

When Cam Newton is on his game, he is one of the NFL's most exciting talents, making highlight-reel plays with both his arm and his legs. While the 2015 NFL MVP has been inconsistent this season, he's certainly worth a look in Week 12. Coming off a four-touchdown performance against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10, Newton is fresh and ready to roll against a Jets defense that is allowing 18.6 FanDuel points per contest (tied for 12th-most) to opposing signal callers.

After seeing his running workload scaled back in the early portion of the season, Newton has re-discovered his legs, racking up 45 carries for 346 yards and 2 rushing scores over his last five contests. The three-time Pro Bowler could prove to be one of the best values on the slate, game-flow permitting.

Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina Panthers

FanDuel Price: $7,300

The Devin Funchess breakout season will likely continue in Week 12. Through 10 contests, the third-year wideout has already established career highs in catches (43) and yards (535), while tying his career mark with 5 touchdown receptions. In fact, he's received six or more targets in every game since Week 2, with eight or more targets in five contests.

In two games since the Panthers dealt former number-one receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills, Funchess has snared 10 of 13 targets for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns as the focal point of the passing game. This week, he draws a Jets defense that is currently forking over 28.2 FanDuel point per contest (10th-most) to opposing wideouts. Expect to see Funchess in bunches (sorry, I had to) in this one.

Others to Consider

Christian McCaffrey ($6,700) leads the Panthers in targets (79) and his 57 receptions lead not only his team, but all NFL running backs. While he hasn't been electric as a runner to this point, he has averaged well over 4.0 yards per carry in each of his last two contests. He now faces a Jets defense that has been struggling against pass-catching runners lately in a potentially pass-heavy game script. The rookie is definitely worth a look.

Josh McCown ($7,300) has been one of the best quarterback streamers in seasonal leagues, but his schedule is about to get very difficult. The Panthers defense only allows 13.8 FanDuel points (fourth-least) and 197.4 passing yards per game to quarterbacks. Don't do it.

McCown's favorite target Robby Anderson ($6,700) is riding a four-game scoring streak and is averaging a robust 16.2 yards per catch in 2017. While he will see his share of looks, the Panthers clearly represent a shy-away matchup for the second-year man.
