Nathan Ake, Defender, Bournemouth

Salary: $7,000

Ake is tied with three other players as the top-priced defender on the slate, and he has averaged 16.6 FanDuel points this season. Ake has scored under that average in two of his last three matches while topping 20 FanDuel points in two of his last six matches.

The Wolves have an 86.7% chance of scoring at least one goal, a feat they have accomplished in six of their eight home matches, and have a 53.5% chance of beating the Cherries, per oddsmakers. Both clubs are poor at maintaining possession as the Cherries average 47.5% of the overall possession while the Wolves maintain 46.8% of the overall possession.

Ake has scored just one goal this season, which was back in Matchweek 3. The majority of his FanDuel points come from defensive actions, and the Wolves do not allow a large number of defensive statistics. They have allowed the most tackles (162), 10th-fewest blocked shots (31), fourth-fewest clearances (220) and fourth-fewest interceptions (76) to defenders this season -- Ake has made more than two tackles in just three matches this season.

For DFS players who are looking to spend up at defender, James Tarkowski ($7,000) should see an uptick in defensive opportunities versus Tottenham while Kieran Trippier ($6,500) -- if healthy -- always has a good chance to produce in the Spurs’ attack.
