4 FanDuel Premier League Players to Avoid in Matchweek 6

Trippier is tied with four other players as the second-highest priced defender on the slate, and he has averaged 15.9 FanDuel points through four matches – the lowest average among the defenders priced $7,000 and above. After a 28.6 point performance in Matchweek 2, Trippier’s points have decreased in three-straight matches, including a zero-point performance in Matchweek 5 against Liverpool.

The selection to the avoid list is solely dependent on where Trippier lines up in the starting XI – assuming he starts after resting for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture. In the two matches Trippier has started as a midfielder he has sent in 28 crosses and created four chances, compared to the eight crosses and three chances created when lined up as a defender.

Tottenham should control the majority of the possession against Brighton as the Seagulls have averaged 42.7% of the possession through five matches which would likely limit the amount of pressure they are able to put on the Spurs’ back line, as they already struggle in those categories. They have allowed the eighth-fewest interceptions (1.25), seventh-fewest tackles (1.45), fewest clearances (2.55) and fewest blocked shots (0.25) per 90 minutes to opposing defenders this season.

Most likely, DFS players are not rostering Trippier for his defensive upside, but for his upside in the Spurs’ attack – which he showed in Matchweek 2. And Brighton have been susceptible to crosses and chances created this season-- allowing the second-most per 90 minutes in both categories. Trippier will always boast a large ceiling which is beneficial for large-field tournaments but there are other players within that price range that are likely better candidates this week as Trippier’s FanDuel production has been declining.
