McArthur's play this season can be described as inconsistent. Crystal Palace struggled against Liverpool and Watford, slowing their momentum from the opening weekend. However, this week sets up well as Roy Hodgson generally gets the better of Mark Hughes.

The last time these teams met McArthur scored the first goal for Palace in a comeback victory. He is also coming off his best match of the young season, recording four defensive actions but becoming much more active with the ball at his feet. McArthur did have a shot on goal and registered his highest number of completed passes last week, as well.

If last week's game gives McArthur any confidence with the ball at his feet it should bode well for the match against Southampton. The Saints are averaging over 14 fouls per match, which is tied for second in the league. Southampton have generated more shots per game so McArthur, like Bryan, becomes valuable on both sides of the ball. He is likely to go low owned with a higher ceiling than in any game thus far this season.
