Questions
Should I make this trade?
I have been offered Aaron Hernandez for Malcolm Floyd.

My TE: Tony Gonzalez, Jared Cook
My WR: Dwayne Bowe, Vincent Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts, Malcolm Floyd

His TE: Brent Celek, Jason Whitten, Aaron Hernandez
His WR: Demaryius Thomas, Kendell Wright, Nate Burelson, Brandon Marshall

Start 3 WR, 1 TE, No Flex

Should I take it? Counter offer?
Thanks in advance

first of all i would never have 3 te when i can only start one, so i think i would prefer to have floyd to add depth at wr rather than mess with more te decisions every week. You probably will never sit gonzo once bye week is over anyway.

Yes, this is a no-brainer. You take the deal. Then you drop Cook and pick up one of the 100 WRs that are interchangeable with Floyd that are probably on waivers. And then you shop Gonzo and Hernandez, and trade whichever one brings you back the most!

This guy is an idiot for offering that trade. I agree with Tom Olp that if you can get him to take Roberts instead, that would be awesome, but it also might be pressing your luck a bit, so if you do try to push Roberts on him, don't push it so hard that he walks away entirely.

It depends on how robust your league's FA receiver market is. If you make the deal, you are left with only four WR's- three having to start and two of them playing in Phoenix. I like Hernandez better than Gonzalez, but that is just personal preference and certainly isn't backed by current production. Do the deal, drop Cook and pickup a WR on waivers. Who are some of the top candidates at WR available in your league?

    Doesn't seem necessary to me

No, I don't think Hernandez is a big enough upgrade at TE over Tony. Plus you have a steep drop off after Floyd so you'll be in trouble for bye weeks unless you only start 2 WR in your league.

We start 3, and that's what I'm worried about.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it then

Yes, you should take this deal. Hernandez is about to be back to 100% health, and he made a very big impact at the beginning of the season. Especially with the Falcons on bye this weekend, getting Hernandez to fill the void would be a step up over Cook, IMO. You'd also be leaving him without a solid tight end to rely on (Witten and Celek have been off and on this year), while giving him a player he doesn't really need past week 11, when there are no more bye weeks. I'd say definitely take this deal, unless you could get him to take Roberts instead of Floyd. Good Luck

Only thing that makes me nervous is Dwayne Bowe, his production has taken a hit with poor QB play.

I don't disagree, but from the looks of it, you could go Fitzgerald/Jackson at WRs, and then play Hernandez at the flex if it's possible for your league. Hernandez is a very good flex option IMO.

Its 3 WR, 1 TE, no flex

Try to swing a deal of Cook and Floyd for Hernandez and Wright. But otherwise, if you don't have a flex then I wouldn't make this deal. Gonzalez and Hernandez are pretty equal, and having one of them waste away on your bench isn't worth it.

In my league, one guy has Vernon Davis and Aaron Hernandez. He's very close to turning one of those TEs into Stevan Ridley. With Fitzgerald/Jackson/Bowe starting most weeks, Floyd is going to waste away on his bench just as often as Hernandez.

If both are going to waste away, then I'd rather keep Hernandez away from the rest of the league more than Floyd.
