Questions
Did the Knicks make smart moves this offseason?
As a Knicks fan, I'm torn between them getting veterans versus just getting older. They also lost Lin, who I saw as an up-and-comer not necessarily an established grade A player.

Do the Knicks ever make smart moves? I think Kidd is an upgrade and Shumpert will continue to improve. Think they were smart to let Lin go amidst all the hype. They should be a sure thing for the playoffs, but with Miami/Chicago still around, I don't see them making it anywhere near the finals.

What's your thought on Nate Silver's piece on the economics of Lin for the Knicks that came out a few weeks ago? http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/16/keeping-lin-should-make-financial-sense-for-the-knicks/

Everything he says makes sense, although I think he overvalues Lin on the court. His initial performance was an outlier as demonstrated by his decline. Not saying he is a poor player, but strictly from a basketball on-court value stand-point, don't think it was worth it to resign him (especially with them so close/over the cap)
