Patriots' Tom Brady expects to play beyond 2017

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady does not believe this will be his last season.

What It Means:

Asked the question in an interview with CBS, Brady said, "No, no." Brady turned 40 last month, but is under contract through 2019 and remained one of the league's best players last season. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo's contract is up at the end of the year, so it will likely take the franchise tag to retain him at a reasonable price. Even if they do keep their prized QB-of-the-future, they'll have a difficult choice to make in 2018, assuming Brady bounces back from a rocky start to this season.

Our models project Brady for 4,659.8 passing yards, 38.8 touchdowns, and 8.4 interceptions on 603.2 more pass attempts over the rest of the 2017 season. Brady comes in as our second-best fantasy quarterback for the remainder of the year, and is our top fantasy passer for Week 2 in a high-flying matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
