Deshaun Watson gaining confidence running Texans' offense
Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson said he feels in "control" of the offense.
"I can go out there and control the offense," Watson stated, adding that his decision-making has improved since the spring. The 12th overall pick from this year's draft, Watson impressed in his preseason debut, completing 15-of-25 passes for 179 yards while adding 3 rushes for 24 yards and a touchdown in Wednesday's preseason opener versus the Carolina Panthers. Tom Savage remains penciled in as the Texans' starter, but it wouldn't be surprising if Watson is under center in Week 1.
numberFire's models currently expect both Savage and Watson to split time under center this season, but if Watson does earn the starting gig before Week 1, and you combine both of their projections for the 2017, it would produce the QB26 overall in our fantasy rankings, with an expectation of 317.7 completions for 3490.3 yards with 18.95 touchdowns and 15.3 interceptions with another 209.17 rushing yards and 2.00 scores on the ground.
