Jordan Howard expects bigger share of Bears' receiving game

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard "expects a larger role in the passing game" this season.

What It Means:

Howard had eye surgery to correct his vision after managing 29 receptions on 50 targets last year and leading all NFL running backs in drops (8). Based on his receiving inefficiency as a rookie and the offseason acquisition of passing-down specialist Benny Cunningham and diminutive receiving-only back Tarik Cohen, more targets may be hard to come by.

Howard's 0.09 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt was the ninth-best rate among the 42 running backs to tote the ball 100 times or more in 2016.
