Browns might release Brock Osweiler
The Cleveland Browns are considering releasing recently-acquired quarterback Brock Osweiler, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Browns just acquired Osweiler from the Houston Texans, but they were apparently only interested in the second-round pick that came with him. Cleveland's front office has enough cap space to simply eat Osweiler's $16 million salary without it impeding them in any way. Loaded with even more trade capital, a deal for New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could now be more likely.
Among the 39 quarterbacks to pick up at least 100 drop backs in 2016, Osweiler's was seventh-worst in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back.
