Jaguars splash to add Barry Church from free agency

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with strong safety Barry Church on a four-year contract.

What It Means:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal is worth "more than $6 million per year." The second best safety on the market, Church reportedly received interest from a "number of teams" before landing in Jacksonville. He will replace Johnathan Cyprien as the starter next to free safety Tashaun Gipson.

The Jaguars finished 2016 ranked 13th in opponent-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play this season.
