Jay Cutler

Bears' Jay Cutler (shoulder) out for now, possibly the year

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (shoulder) is expected to miss time, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

What It Means:

This follows up a Monday report from the Chicago Tribune claiming the Bears were "exploring" the idea of ending Cutler's season entirely. Matt Barkley is in line to start Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans and David Fales was brought in off the Ravens' practice squad, presumably as a backup. Cutler has probably thrown his last pass for Chicago, who will now focus on finding his replacement in the offseason while jockeying for better draft position.

There have been 35 quarterbacks to record at least 100 dropbacks this season, and Cutler's -0.07 Passing Net Expected Points per dropback is ahead of only Blaine Gabbert (-0.12).
