Washington's Chris Thompson monopolizes touches after Matt Jones' benching

Washington running back Chris Thompson rushed 12 times for 73 yards and added seven receptions for 40 additional yards in the team's Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions.

What It Means:

Thompson led the backfield in touches and carries, and the team in yards from scrimmage (113). His involvement was increased after starter Matt Jones fumbled a ball into the end zone for a Lions touchback. Head coach Jay Gruden implemented a three-man timeshare with those two and Rob Kelley, but Thompson led the way. Gruden insisted after the game that Jones remains the starter, but Thompson seems like a good bet for at least 12-15 touches in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thompson earned 3.43 Net Expected Points (NEP) on his 12 rushes, and 0.62 NEP on his 7 targets as well, per numberFire Live.
